Hook, created by the same hackers responsible for BlackRock, ERMAC, and other malicious viruses, targets Android smartphones and allows unrestricted access to the user’s data and device.
Hook features a “File Manager” command, which converts the virus into a file manager that hackers can use to access any files they desire. Furthermore, it is compatible with instant messaging programs such as WhatsApp, which enables hackers to send messages using the victim’s account.
According to the story by Giz China, this malware is also respected on the global market, targeting popular banking applications in the US, Australia, Poland, Canada, Turkey, the UK, Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal.
SecneurX Spotted Multiple Android Apps with Malware
It comes with capabilities similar to BlackRock, which enables hackers to steal money and even the passwords to the user’s banking applications, as explained in an article by Threat Fabric. This is especially worrisome as it has already affected hundreds and thousands of smartphones, largely through fraudulent apps in the Google Play Store, as discovered by SecneurX.
The hackers are even renting out the virus to others for a hefty price of around $5,000 per month. Aside from money theft, Hook also gives hackers access to other files stored on the device and complete control over the device.
It also allows access to instant messaging programs like Whatsapp, where hackers can send messages on behalf of the victims. Furthermore, the virus has already been released on a global market and is now targeting banking apps in the US and other countries.

Google Play Store’s security measures have not been able to stop this malware from entering their store, allowing hackers to download 34 apps containing one of the most notorious Trojans – Joker.
