Asus has officially released its latest ROG Phone 5 on Wednesday, March 10. This phone is called as the “most powerful Android phone” out there. Does this beat Apple’s recent iPhone 12 Pro Max model? Let’s find out.

Asus vs. Apple: Which is better?

Both Asus and Apple are two different phone brands. Some might say that the latter is more advanced than the former. But, not with the latest smartphone of Asus.

The ROG Phone 5 is way more advanced than the last released phones of the brand. In terms of differences, here are the things you should take note between an ROG Phone 5 vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Design/ Display

The design between both models are different. The screen display of iPhone 12 Pro is 6.7-inches, while ROG Phone 5 has bigger screen with 6.8-inches.

The Apple version offers OLED screen, and ROG offers AMOLED display. iPhone 12 Pro Max do have 60Hz refresh rate, HDR support, Oleophobic coating, Scratch-resistant glass (Ceramic Shield), Ambient light sensor, and Proximity sensor.

Meanwhile, ROG Phone 5 has 144Hz refresh rate, same with HDR support, Scratch-resistant glass (Corning Gorilla Glass Victus), Ambient light sensor, and Proximity sensor, all according to Phone Arena page.

The weight of the android phone is also bigger: iPhone with 8.03 oz, while ROG has 8.40 oz. Both brands offer various colors: Apple (Pacific Blue, Gold, Graphite, Silver) and ROG Phone 5 (Phantom Black, Storm White).

In terms of camera, GSMarena reported that ROG Phone 5, unfortunately, wasn’t able to change anything about their camera set. It has the same 64 MP Quad Bayer sensor (Sony IMX686) with 2×1 OCL autofocus, the lens aperture remains at f/1.8. Meanwhile, it also has 13 MP ultra wide camera and a new 5 MP macro cam.

iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, has three rear cameras with 12 MP camera system: Ultra-Wide, Wide, and Telephoto cameras.

Prices

When it comes to the prices, a small amount differentiates the two brands. An iPhone 12 Pro Max costs $1,099 for 128 GB and 6GB RAM. Meanwhile, ROG Phone 5 128GB with 8GB RAM may costs around $950– which may be equal price to iPhone 12 Pro model.

Conclusion

Other aspects can still affect the decision of which smartphone is better. However, it is safe to say that both brands have their strengths and weaknesses. It’s up to you to decide.
