Xbox Clips Update Auto-Saves on Microsoft’s OneDrive Cloud Storage With Existing Clips Uploadable: New Feature Being Tested

-

Microsoft is developing a way to make viewing clips or screenshots on Xbox easier, and it includes a new feature that would automatically save clips and screenshots from the console in the company’s One Drive cloud service.

Microsoft Lets Users Automatically Upload Xbox Clips and Screenshots to OneDrive

According to The Verge, Microsoft is reportedly working on this feature that automatically incorporates the company’s OneDrive for Xbox gamers. It will be available for testing but only for a limited number of users.

As announced by Microsoft, the testing will only be available to the Xbox Insiders in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings.

These limited users will be able to test out the feature, which allows users to upload existing clips on OneDrive. It will also apply to the users’ existing screenshot collection.

It was also reported that a new wizard would assist Xbox owners with this new process of syncing their clips to OneDrive. The assistance would be helping users in uploading their existing clips and screenshots.

How Backing Up Clips on OneDrive Looks Like

The Verge also reported that users will be able to upload specific parts of their collection should they choose not to upload everything.

Microsoft has reportedly warned users that should they have many clips, the upload process could take up to a couple of days.

However, it also noted that despite the long upload period, uploading the clips can still be done in the background and will not affect the user’s gaming experience.

Tom Warren, a senior editor for The Verge, has uploaded a video on YouTube regarding how the automatic OneDrive clips backup works.

It was reported that switching to the automatic uploads of a player’s clips and screenshots in the future will mean that the videos will become available in the OneDrive videos folder, and users will find the screenshots in the picture folder.

Screenshots and Clips Would be Accessible Through the Web, PC, Mac, or Mobile App

The report further noted that the clips and screenshots would be easily accessible through the web, PC, Mac, or mobile app version of OneDrive. Despite the change, the report highlighted how there wasn’t any improvement in the Xbox clip process.

So far, players will still experience a hard time uploading video clips since it will likely take long hours despite having a fast connection. When testing, the Verge reported that the 4K clips were not automatically uploaded to OneDrive yet.

However, Microsoft announced that it would be making changes in the future, potentially making it easier for users to upload high-quality clips faster.

It was also reported that the company usually tests out new Xbox features for a few months before making them available to the public, which means it might take a while before all users get to use this feature.
