(BPRW) The Alabama Collective Wraps Statewide Innovation Power Hours Series at Alabama HBCUs | Tech Zone Daily

-

Designed to spark creativity, foster design thinking, and introduce cutting-edge technology and entrepreneurial skills, the program engaged hundreds of students and faculty from Alabama State University, Alabama A&M University, Miles College, Tuskegee University, and Bishop State Community College.

Held throughout the fall semester, each campus-based Innovation Power Hour featured engaging innovation challenges, and real-world exposure to tech and entrepreneurship—all designed to make innovation accessible, inspiring, and actionable for the next generation of changemakers.

“Our HBCUs are filled with incredible talent and bold ideas,” said Charisse Stokes, Executive Director of The Alabama Collective. “Innovation Power Hours were created to not only celebrate that brilliance but also to equip students with the tools and opportunities to lead in high-demand fields like technology, AI, and entrepreneurship.”

During the sessions, students participated in collaborative workshops and design challenges focused on solving real-world problems. Attendees explored emerging technologies, pitched creative solutions, and connected directly with professionals, mentors, and innovators across industries. Prizes, giveaways, and networking opportunities added even more excitement and impact to each session.

The Power Hours were designed to complement The Alabama Collective’s broader mission: closing the opportunity gap by preparing underrepresented communities to compete and thrive in the digital economy.

“By connecting students with tools, mentors, and real pathways to tech careers, we’re helping to shift what’s possible for our HBCU communities,” said Stokes.

The Alabama Collective plans to continue the Innovation Power Hours experience in 2026 – visiting more campuses, building deeper partnerships, and creating new opportunities for students and faculty across the state.
