League of Legends builds up the hype with a lot in store for players next year.
As early as January 2023, players can expect changes from Riot Games’ League of Legends. Before they are out, here is a brief overview of the changes you can expect to see rolled out for next year.
New League of Legends SEA Server
According to Tech Zone Daily, Riot Games recently revealed that they would be taking over the publishing of League of Legends in Southeast Asia (SEA). This is because the SEA server of the game has been handled by Garena ever since the launch of its servers, similar to Teamfight Tactics.
Originally, Garena was in charge of publishing the two games for the SEA region. However, due to their contract ending in January 2023, Riot Games ended its partnership with Garena 12 years after the SEA gaming community had grown and expanded.
Many players have started migrating their accounts, so be sure to have your account linked to Riot Games before the year ends, or else your Garena account will be deleted.
New Champion Releases
With already a huge variety of champions in the League of Legends roster, Riot Games still has more in store to create a shift in the game meta.
As of now, what we know so far is based on a League of Legends Dev Vlog, which gives players a glimpse of what to expect for the upcoming season. According to the video, a support champion has been in very early development since August, specifically, a male Ixtali Enchanter champion.
Three little fire orbs that are part of the artwork that has been released so far are possibly found in the support kit. With comments about this champion being “cute,” it was also implied that they might be a child character.
Champion Nerfs and Buffs
Players received nine reworks in 2022, either as a blessing or a curse that changed the League of Legends meta. For 2023, players can anticipate that these Champion nerfs and buffs will be equally significant.
While Ahri’s kit has also undergone revision, her Art and Sustainability Update (ASU), which will be released this year, will enhance her animations, visual effects, audio, and narrative.
A redesign of Yuumi, one of League of Legends‘ most annoying champions, was also made public. Details on the Magical Cat will be made public in the early part of 2023, but since this is still in the early phases, we assume it may come out later in the year.
Additionally, Yahoo reports that mid-scope improvements will be given to champions like Neeko, Rell, and Jax, with the earliest update appearing in 13.1.

Finally, the League of Legends ranking in 2023 will undergo significant alterations. It was stated earlier this December. The Season will include two Ranked resets, equal to two splits; the first will start in January, and the second will happen somewhere in the middle of the year.
Thus, there will be two skin awards for Ranked with two splits in a Season. Additionally, the promotion series will switch from a best-of-five format to a best-of-three format, with matches no longer influenced by visible rank.
