Netflix is improving the video resolution of its Basic with Ads plan with the rollout of the new upgrade. At the same time, the streaming giant also adds improvement to the simultaneous streaming of the users.
Netflix Improves Video Resolution to 1080p

Netflix has upgraded the video resolution for the Basic with Ads streaming plan from 720p to 1080p.
It’s been long-requested of some users that Netflix should improve the video quality of the clips with no additional charges. This year, the request of the public has officially come true following the much-needed upgrade for the basic streaming plan.
According to a report by Apple Insider, the ad-supported tier was priced at a monthly fee of $6.99. Those who avail of this service can see a lot of commercials playing in-between programming. All in all, the ads flashing on the screen have four to five minutes of screen time.
While the previous subscription only allows viewers to stream at 720p resolution, the latest upgrade for the Basic with Ads streaming plan now peaks at 1080p. The catch is it plays as-is with no extra cost.
Aside from the enhanced video resolution, Netflix also launches an option for subscribers to watch two streams at the same time.
If you want to maximize your streaming needs with no ads, the company recommends that people opt for the ad-supported program which only costs $15.49 a month.
The upgrade will take effect on Wednesday, April 18 in select regions including Canada and Spain. After its initial launch, the company will gradually make it available to the rest of the markets across the US, Europe, and Asia.
Netflix saw a 4% year-over-year growth during Q1 2023. The upcoming quarter is expected to yield about $8.2 billion in revenue which is projected to be a 3% year-over-year increase from 2022.

Netflix Slapped With Several Lawsuits Recently
Facing a lawsuit is not new anymore to Netflix. For the past years, the streaming firm has been hit by several complaints from different companies and persons.
Recently, a man from Kentucky sued Netflix for posting his Instagram photo in the latest “Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker” documentary
According to Variety, Taylor Hazlewood who works as a respiratory therapist says that Netflix used his picture in the doc without his consent. The photos were allegedly gotten from his IG page.
Hazlewood wanted Netflix to pay him $1 million for the damages it caused to him. He cited that his featured photos in the documentary have caused stress, anxiety, reputational harm, and anguish.
Meanwhile, Egypt Independent stated in its report that Egyptian lawyer Mahmoud al-Semary demanded that Netflix should face legal punishment for depicting Queen Cleopatra with contradicting information about the country’s history.
He added that the documentary favors Afrocentrism which means that it was made to distort the Egyptian identity.
