(BPRW) Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau launches season five of the Art of Black Miami Podcast

Latest series showcases powerful stories from Black, Afro-Latino and LGBTQ artists and community leaders

(Tech Zone Daily) MIAMI – The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (GMCVB) fifth Art of Black Miami (AOBM) podcast season is now live. Elevating the voices, stories and artistic journeys of a bold and diverse group of creatives shaping the cultural fabric of Greater Miami and Miami Beach, the first episode features visual artist and muralist Stefan Smith, and the second episode, set to air May 19, spotlights Woolsler Delisfort, a self-taught documentary photographer whose work captures the spiritual and cultural life of Greater Miami’s Haitian and Afro-Caribbean communities.

Hosted by renowned curator, arts advocate and Diaspora Vibe Culture Arts Incubator President Rosie Gordon-Wallace, this season dives dive into themes of identity, social change, heritage and the power of public art.  Notably, the series expands its lens including a conversation with President & CEO of Ten North Group Dr. Willie F. Logan, whose organization supports community arts, cultural development and creating pathways to housing and wealth-building.

“For the past decade, Art of Black Miami has served as a powerful platform to celebrate and elevate the rich cultural heritage, creativity and influence of the Black diaspora in Greater Miami,” says GMCVB Senior Vice President of Multicultural Tourism & Development Connie Kinnard. “As we mark our 10th anniversary, we are committed to continue amplifying the voices of local and international leaders who shape the soul of our destination and inspire the world through their work.”

2025 AOBM podcast season five lineup:

  • Stefan Smith (air date: April 21): A South Florida-based multidisciplinary artist and muralist, Stefan Smith creates immersive public art that explores the intersection of Black identity, architecture and cultural America. His public murals tell collective stories that inspire and highlight the impact of social movements and economic displacement in communities of color.
  • Woolsler Delisfort (May 19): A self-taught documentary photographer from Little Haiti, Delisfort’s work captures the spirit, resilience and sacred traditions of the Haitian diaspora. His latest work, SANCTUARY: Our Sacred Place, explores Miami’s indigenous, African and Caribbean communities through over 100 powerful images of spiritual connection.
  • Ema Ri (June 16): Ema Ri is a LGBTQ, Cuban-American artist based in Miami whose work explores identity, exile and homelessness. With solo exhibitions at Spinello Projects and participation in major art fairs like UNTITLED and MoCa Miami, Ema’s evolving practice has earned them prestigious residencies and awards, including the Wavemaker Grant and Ellies Creator Award.
  • Ten North Group featuring Dr. Willie F. Logan (July 21): Willie F. Logan is the president & CEO of Ten North Group, a mission-based, community-focused real estate development organization in South Florida. A former state legislator and longtime community builder, Dr. Logan is a national voice on placemaking, urban revitalization and equity through public space.
  • Dudley Alexis (August 18): A Haitian-born filmmaker and visual artist, Dudley Alexis is known for his poignant documentaries exploring untold histories and the lives of marginalized communities. From Liberty in a Soup to exhibitions at Art Basel, his work blends historical depth with emotional insight, spotlighting voices often overlooked by the mainstream.
  • Lauryn M. Lawrence (September 15): An Afro-Latina artist and curator, Lauryn M. Lawrence’s multimedia works unpack intersectionality, sacred spaces and the lived experiences of Black and Latina women. Her photographic series Womxnhood captures the power and vulnerability of marginalized communities, spotlighting the deep connections between people and the spaces they inhabit.
