(BPRW) The National Black Nurses Association Endorses “Nurses SHIFT Change: Report for Duty Rally” — A National Call to Action for Health Equity and Policy Reform

(Tech Zone Daily) Silver Spring, MD The National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) is proud
to officially endorse the Nurses SHIFT Change: Report for Duty Rally, taking place
nationwide on Saturday, May 24, 2025. This unprecedented event, centered on Humanity,
Ethics, Social Justice, and Science (HESS), calls on nurses across the country to unite and
advocate for bold, equitydriven healthcare policy reform.

The 2025 rally coincides with the 75th anniversary of the American Nurses Association’s
Code of Ethics, marking a powerful moment for the nursing profession to reaffirm its
commitment to ethical leadership, policy advocacy, and health equity. Rally organizers are
calling for action on three major priorities:

  • Protecting Medicaid and Medicare access for all
  • Strengthening primary, preventive, and communitybased care
  • Building a healthcare workforce that is safe, supported, and representative of the communities it serves

NBNA encourages its chapter leaders and members to take part in this vital movement. Chapters
are invited to lead or support satellite rallies in their local communities. We are pleased to
announce that the Rochester Black Nurses Association (RBNA), under the leadership of Dr.
Celia McIntosh, CoChair of the NBNA Health Policy Committee, is already mobilizing a local
rally in Rochester, NY.

“This rally is a call for nurses to stand together and shift the course of healthcare in America,”
said NBNA President Dr. Sheldon D. Fields. “NBNA is proud to support Nurses SHIFT
Change, and we call on our chapters to rise to the occasion and lead this movement for justice,
equity, and systemic change in healthcare.”
