GM cutting overtime shifts at two U.S. truck plants due to chip shortage

General Motors is cutting overtime manufacturing this weekend at two U.S. meeting plants that produce its extremely worthwhile full-size pickups due to the continued semiconductor chip shortage impacting the worldwide automotive business.

The plants in Flint, Michigan and Fort Wayne, Indiana produce a mixture of the corporate’s full-size pickups, together with Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 fashions s in addition to their bigger siblings.

This is the primary time the Detroit automaker has lower manufacturing shifts for its full-size pickups due to the months-long chip shortage. GM has considerably lower manufacturing at its car and crossover plants in North America to prioritize chips for the pickups in addition to the corporate’s full-size SUVs.
