Spotify ‘Playlist in a Bottle’ Feature: Here’s How it Works

As per a news story by CNET, the renowned music service Spotify is rolling out a new feature that would let users freeze their current favorite tunes until next year.

The Swedish firm introduced its new Playlist in a Bottle, allowing users to save music moments early this year.

Spotify notes that “Playlist in a Bottle is our latest interactive, in-app experience that captures who you are musically right now.”

However, the musical time capsule will not be available for users to hear until after 12 months. Spotify will only allow them to share it with friends or social media followers in January 2024.

Given that, if you are eager to listen to your musical time capsule as early as now, you will have to wait until the next new year.

From there, users can choose their playlist time capsule. There are a few options, such as a teddy bear, jean pocket, bottle, gumball machine, and lunch box.

After choosing, the music streaming service will provide questions that users have to answer with song titles.

The queries include “a song you need to hear live in 2023.” Other questions are a bit cheesy: “A song you’re going to kiss someone to this year” and “A song that reminds you of your favorite person.”

It is worth noting that Spotify users have until the end of the month or until January 31 to create their time capsule. The new “Play in a Bottle” feature is available for free.

Whether you are using an Apple iPhone or an Android mobile device, you can access this new fancy feature.

However, CNET notes in its story that the new feature requires the latest version of Spotify. So you might want to check if you have the latest version if you are having a hard time looking for it.

The Swedish streaming service has already rolled out the feature to roughly 27 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Folks based in Japan, Italy, Canada, Brazil, and the Philippines could also get their hands on it as early as now.
