Sketchy ChatGPT Apps Are Flocking Over App Store and Play Store

-

ChatGPT has become the talk of the town these past few weeks following several reports about OpenAI’s chatbot. Indeed, this has already garnered a lot of impressions from developers who are testing the waters with this system.

However, some fake ChatGPT apps are lurking on app marketplaces such as Apple App Store. There’s even an app with more than 100,000 downloads, and it’s only freely roaming on the Google Play Store.

Sketchy ChatGPT Apps Are All Over App Stores

According to a report by TechCrunch, some unknown people behind these dubious apps might be planning to get more money by fooling the users into downloading their modified apps.

Before you see any suspicious ChatGPT apps either on App Store or PlayStore, it’s important to know that OpenAI has not yet launched any software for Android or iOS users.

Furthermore, ChatGPT is open to every user, so there’s no way that it will come as a paid app in the App Store.

Speaking of which, the app marketplace appears to have a fake ChatGPT app dubbed “ChatGPT Pro.”

As BloomTech CEO Austen Allred tweeted on his Twitter account, the app claims to have unlimited usage, ads free experience, access to all unlocked features, and a cancellable subscription for the users.

According to another report by Macrumors, the app is not really affiliated with OpenAI, and it’s only made to deceive the users on the App Store.

Meanwhile, it is said there that ChatGPT Pro arrives with an annual subscription pricing of $50 for all users. If you’re the kind of person who wants to use it weekly, the app will charge you $8.

Fake ChatGPT App is Full of Negative Reviews

At first glance, you won’t notice that this app is fake, given that it has more than 100,000 downloads from users. However, when you pay close attention to it, you will see a lot of negative reviews for this app.

Another glaring thing about this dubious app is that it has a lot of 1-star ratings and reviews, which means that people know that it promotes fake features to the public.

Ironically, it still surpasses other apps on the App Store and was launched on the platform just three weeks ago.

If you encounter this app on the App Store, avoid it and leave a negative review, so more people will know that it’s a scam and sketchy.

Other apps you must avoid on the platform are “BetterTrack Ride Hike Run Swim,” ” Activity Lock Screen Widget 16,” and more.

Apple should thoroughly evaluate all apps before becoming available on the App Store. They must undergo a careful review process before being used by the users. The same thing goes with Play Store users.
