U.S. safety agency says it will gather information on Tesla crash with truck in New Jersey

The U.S. auto safety agency stated on Monday that it will gather information about an accident in which a Tesla automobile crashed right into a tractor-trailer in New Jersey.

The Tesla driver, a 44-year-old, stated he had his cruise management on “when he momentarily misplaced focus on the roadway” and drove his automotive beneath the trailer on Monday morning, in response to a press release from the South Brunswick Township Police Department.

“The impression was so extreme it shredded the roof off the passenger’s facet of the automobile.”

The Tesla was destroyed in the crash, however the driver obtained minor accidents.

“NHTSA is conscious of the Tesla crash on March 29 in New Jersey. We have contacted Tesla and native legislation enforcement concerning this crash and will act accordingly when now we have extra information,” a consultant of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated in a press release to Reuters.

Tesla didn’t instantly reply to a Reuters request for feedback.

The NHTSA stated earlier this month that it had opened 27 investigations into crashes of Tesla automobiles, 23 of which stay energetic, and not less than three of the crashes occurred in current weeks.
